Alan Fletcher (footballer)
Alan Frederick Fletcher (28 October 1917 – 1984) was an English professional footballer. He played in the Football League for Bournemouth and Crewe Alexandra. Fletcher joined Blackpool in January 1937, later joining Port Vale without appearing for either side. He moved to Bournemouth, playing twelve times during the 1938–39 season. He joined Bristol Rovers in 1939, playing all three games before World War II stopped League football in England. He joined Crewe Alexandra in September 1947. He made just one appearance before joining Mossley as a player-coach. He left Mossley to become player-coach with Irish side Sligo Rovers at the start of the 1949–50 season. Alan Fletcher (27 March 1930 – 1 August 1958) was a Scottish artist. He has been described as "one of the most exciting young artists of his generation". Life Alan Robert Tregoning Williams Fletcher was born in Anderston, Glasgow, on 27 March 1930 to Archibald Fletcher, an engine fitter, and Mary Giles, a hotel waitress. Fletcher grew up living with family in the Cowcaddens, a working-class district in central Glasgow. He was educated at Woodside Secondary School. Fletcher completed his National Service in the Intelligence Corps from 1949 to 1950, rising to the rank of sergeant. He enrolled at the Glasgow School of Art in 1951 and gained a Diploma in Sculpture and Modelling in 1957, having repeated two years of studentship. Alan Gerard Fletcher (27 September 1931 – 21 September 2006) was a British graphic designer. In his obituary, he was described by ''The Daily Telegraph'' as "the most highly regarded graphic designer of his generation, and probably one of the most prolific". Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Fletcher moved to England at age five, and studied at four art schools: Hammersmith School of Art, Central School of Art, Royal College of Art (1953–1956) and lastly Yale School of Art and Architecture at Yale University in 1956. Early life Fletcher was born in Nairobi, where his father was a civil servant. When his father was terminally ill he returned to England at the age of five with the rest of his family. He lived with his grandparents in Shepherd's Bush in West London, before being evacuated in 1939 to Christ's Hospital in Horsham. Alan Fletcher (born 1956) is president and CEO of the Aspen Music Festival and School and a music administrator and composer. He came to Aspen in March 2006 from the positions of Head of the School of Music and Professor of Music at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he had been since 2001, and before that from leadership and faculty positions including provost and senior vice president at the New England Conservatory, where he was engaged for 16 years. Alan Fletcher (born 30 March 1957) is an Australian actor of stage, television and film and musician. Fletcher is best known for TV soap opera ''Neighbours'', as Karl Kennedy. His on-screen wife is played by Jackie Woodburne, who coincidentally had previously played his sister in TV procedural drama ''Cop Shop''. Having appeared in the series since 1994, Fletcher is the third longest serving actor in an Australian television serial, after ''Home and Away'' actors Ray Meagher and Lynne McGranger.
